As a proud member of the Rheem® Family of Brands , we're excited to celebrate this important milestone. Now, as we reflect on all the accomplishments of the last century, we also look towards the future of air and water. To what's next. Because together, we're just getting started.
Edwin Ruud journeyed to the US from Norway in the late 1800s to work as a mechanical engineer and developed the first automatic gas storage water heater—which earned him a Gold Medal at the 1904 World's Fair. He went on to found his own company, which flourished on its own until the Ruud Manufacturing Company joined the Rheem Family of Brands in 1959.
